Basalt geogrid (BNP)

ULTRANIT BFI (Basalt Fiber Impregnated) is made from basalt fiber rovings with polymer impregnation.
ULTRANIT BFI (Basalt Fiber Impregnated) ASPHALT is made from basalt fiber rovings with or without nonwoven geosynthetic substrate impregnated by polymer-bitumen compound with a mass not greater than 50g/m2 and melting point from 100℃ to 140℃ with polymer-bitumen impregnation.

The Ultranit® BFI main application: Reinforcement of structural road surface layers, reinforcement of weak foundations, reinforcement of buildings and structures elements

Scope of application

APPLICATIONS:
• Highways construction
• Aerodrome runways construction
• Strengthening of the engineering facilities soil foundation
• Reinforcement of floor screeds, bricks or blocks made from different raw materials; using as a connecting element for facilities construction, repair or reconstruction works

ADVANTAGES:
• BFI Geogrids are more resistant to alkalies and acids present in soils as compared to meshes/geogrids made from fiberglass
• High strength
• Retention of physical and mechanical properties at low temperatures
• Reducing the materials cost
• High humidity resistance
• High adhesion
• Increasing the overhaul time

Conditional designation

Geogrid Ultranit (Ultranit®) BNP - geogrid basalt thread-piercing
flat, formed by two systems of basalt rovings located
perpendicular to each other and fastened with a knitting thread

Example:
Geogrid Ultranit BNP 40/40-35, STO 46487778-002-2015, where:
  • Ultranit BNP - geogrid brand;
  • 40/40 – strength of the material on the warp (in the longitudinal direction) and weft (in the transverse direction), respectively, kN/m;
  • 35 – cell size, mm;
  • STO 46487778-002-2015 - organization standard number.

Geogrid Ultranit (Ultranit®) BNP Asphalt - a geogrid fastened with
non-woven geotextile with polymer-bitumen impregnation

Example:
Geogrid Ultranit BNP Asphalt 50/50-40, STO 46487778-002-2015, where:
  • Ultranit BNP Asphalt – geogrid brand;
  • 50/50 – strength of the material on the warp (in the longitudinal direction) and weft (in the transverse direction), respectively, kN/m;
  • 40 – cell size, mm;
  • STO 46487778-002-2015 - organization standard number.
