Geomat Ultranit 3D

It is a geotextile material, manufactured by weaving or warp knitting high-strength yarns or rovings and subsequent applying of polymer impregnation. The ULTRANIT 3D Geomat ensures stability of earth cuts and fills slopes by minimizing water and wind erosion. The ULTRANIT 3D Geomat is made from polyester rovings or a combination of polyester and fiberglass / basalt fiber and has breaking load of up to 300 kN/m warpwise and up to 100 kN/m fillingwise. The size of the geomat cell is determined by the specific object conditions.

Preparation of the abutments or embankment slopes surface (layout planning, removal of large foreign objects). Preparation of a trench along the earthwork edge to secure the geomat in its upper part. The trench preparation is necessary unless there is another option to secure the geomat in the upper part of the slope. A triangular-section trench with 0.4-m deep slopes having a ratio of 1:2 or a trapezoidal-section trench with 0.3-m deep and 0.2-m wide (along the bottom) slopes having a ratio of 1:1 should be arranged at a distance of 0.2-0.6 m from the earthwork edge. The rolls are transported and distributed along the edge at certain intervals depending on the length of the material in the roll and the length of the slope. The geomat is laid from top to bottom with anchors in the upper and lower part. After laying the geogrid the anchor trench is filled with the sand and gravel mix, ballast or local soil with the following compaction. The adjacent fabrics are stacked in parallel with 0.15-0.20 m overlap and fixed with L- or U-shaped anchor clips with 3-5 mm diameter and 30 cm length. Anchor clips are installed at 2 points along the width of the roll with 5-6 m interval along its length during laying-out. The topsoil is backfilled on top of the geomat using excavators, front loaders or manually from top to bottom, and leveling and compaction of the soil is carried out with a gradual movement along the work front line. The ideal period of seeding the slopes of structures, if applicable, is the beginning of the plants growing season. The approximate consumption of seeds is 3-5 kg per 100 m2 of the strengthening surface. One third of seeds is sown in the exposed geomat or in the surface of a slope before laying-out, and two thirds are sown after backfilling the geomat with topsoil. The thickness of the backfilling layer is 5-15 cm, depending on the project design.

Complies with the durability requirements according to GOST R 70060-202, complies with the application and specifications requirements according to PNS 503-2020 Approved by ROSAVTODOR Federal Road Agency and AVTODOR Company Group.

Scope of application

APPLICATIONS:
• Reinforcement of coastlines of various water reservoirs, including rivers, lakes and canals
• Strengthening of highways and railways earth walls
• Reinforcement of embankments and slopes during the hydraulic structures construction • Reinforcing of bridges and overpasses abutments
• Strengthening of the construction pit slopes
• Protection of structures from water and wind erosion and landslide processes
• Construction of artificial landscape structures (artificial water reservoirs, park paths, sidewalks, etc.);
  • Strengthening the root system of seed grasses to form a reliable turf layer;
  • Prevention of soil suffusion;
  • Retention and accumulation of soil and plant seeds to protect against leaching and weathering.

ADVANTAGES:
• High tensile strength in both directions (machine direction and cross-machine direction)
• Slight machine direction/cross-machine direction relative elongation at max load
• Resistance to aggressive environments
• High resistance to freeze/thaw cycles
• UV resistance (as compared with PP and PE analogues)
• Supports combining with other strengthening options

COMPLETED PROJECTS:
• Total overhaul of the Р-254 Irtysh Highway (Chelyabinsk - Kurgan - Omsk - Novosibirsk) TK Gormash, LLC; Novosibirskavtodor, LLC
• Construction and reconstruction of the Kerch - Feodosia - Belogorsk - Simferopol - Bakhchisaray - Sevastopol Highway, VAD, JSC
